If you'd like to use CPS in your PowerPoint presentations, download CPS for PowerPoint
Please note, if you've upgraded to Office '08, the CPS for Power Point will not work.

Helpful Hints

Make sure you check that your computer and the receiver are on the same channel before beginning a presentation. Go to Settings (in the toolbar at the top of the page), choose Delivery Options, choose Receiver. Make sure the correct type of receiver is chosen, check that the Base Channel and the Receiver are on the same channel, click Setup CPS Receiver. Finally, click OK.

When you are creating a new lesson, click on Tools, and choose New Lesson from the drop down menu. Do not go to File in the top toolbar and choose New. If you do that, you'll actually create a new CPS folder.

Clicker Lessons

Using Clickers to Increase Reading Comprehension
Overview: Students will use CPS clickers to check for periodic understanding of the story being read in class. Based on the results from the CPS, students will review as necessary or proceed with the story.

Story Elements
Overview
Students review and expand their understanding of story elements via PowerPoint and receive practice and immediate feedback via clickers.

That's Funny!
Overview:Students will be somewhat conversant in types of humor and how to distinguish between types of humor. As an example, students will be expected to recognize the difference between a pun and gallows humor. Students will also have had some exposure to examples of various types of humor in terms of spoken, visual and written forms.

Vocabulary
Overview
Students practice their vocabulary words by participating in a multiple choice vocabulary student managed assessment. They send their answers to the teacher using the CPS clicker system. The teacher can give them instant feedback as to how their doing, alert individual students to words they don’t understand, and re-teach students who are sending incorrect answers--all in real time!

Victorian Time Period
Overview: Students will respond to 8 questions about the Victorian time period. Information about the historical and cultural aspects of the time period will be shared as the questions are reviewed. This information will provide a beginning framework for students understanding the background to two novels: The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle and A Christmas Carol.
